Copilot Mode: hit the road without worrying about your next stop

What if you could drive without ever having to plan ahead for a charging station? With Copilot mode, your electric car journey becomes as smooth as it is spontaneous. This new feature, available with a Chargemap Boost subscription, guides you to the best charging stations in real time, as you travel. Here’s how it works.

A new way to travel in an electric car

Say goodbye to long hours spent planning each stop, backup plans for unavailable charging stations, and the stress of the unexpected. The Chargemap team has developed a solution to simplify your electric car journeys and let you travel with peace of mind.

Available in the Chargemap app for Chargemap Boost subscribers, Copilot mode offers an intuitive in-car experience. With a clear, driver-friendly interface, you can instantly see available charging stations that match your preferences and are accessible in real time.

How does Copilot mode work?

Travel tab in the Chargemap app

✋ First of all, keep in mind that Copilot is not a satnav. It’s a genuine in-car charging assistant.

You can access Copilot mode through the Travel tab in your Chargemap app. This feature is exclusive to Chargemap Boost.

Setup

Chargemap Copilot mode settings and preferences

Before you set off, enter:

  • your destination and battery level
  • your vehicle model
  • your charging preferences, for example:
    • minimum charging power (e.g. > 150kW)
    • favourite networks (e.g. show only Super Partners)
    • compatibility with Chargemap Pass, Autocharge, etc.
    • charging stations offering the best €/kWh rates

Using Copilot

Display of charging stations in Chargemap Copilot mode

When you need to charge, simply launch Copilot (and update your battery level if necessary).

The tool instantly suggests the most suitable stations along your route, showing at a glance:

  • the maximum charging power available
  • real-time availability (free connectors)
  • the distance and travel time to get there
  • the estimated battery level on arrival

By tapping on a charging station, you can also see:

  • its opening hours;
  • the types of connectors available;
  • the price with the Chargemap Pass;
  • a direct link to GPS navigation.

Real-life example

You’re heading off for a weekend in Brighton. Halfway there, your battery drops below 25%. You launch Copilot and spot a fast charging station just 8 minutes away with several connectors available. With a single tap, you start navigation. Then you charge, set off again, and continue your journey seamlessly.

Why is Copilot useful?

Copilot mode is ideal for you if:

  • you like setting off without a fixed plan and prefer a more spontaneous approach
  • you no longer want to spend time comparing charging stations in advance
  • you want to drive with confidence, even off the main roads
  • you like optimising your charging sessions (time / cost, etc.)

An exclusive Chargemap Boost feature

Copilot mode is part of the Chargemap Boost subscription. In addition to this feature, enjoy a host of benefits:

  • 10% discount on each charging session with Chargemap Pass
  • exclusive offers
  • ‘economical routes’ feature in the planner
  • no ads in the app
